Patch for Logitech boarded Scanners on Compaq systems with more than 16Mb of RAM
This text listed below is available in the archive as README.1ST. In addition to the README.1ST, the archive
contains COMPQFIX.EXE and the following files:
VHHSCAND.386 - 5,747: 11-22-96 3:39p
SCANMAN2.DS - 311,296: 11-22-96 3:51p
HHSCANW.DLL - 47,456: 11-22-96 3:47p
IMPORTANT! THIS PATCH REQUIRES SCANWARE VERSION 2.2
In order for the above files to work properly, you must have ScanWare version 2.2 installed. If you do not have
ScanWare v2.2, please download ScanWare v2.2 from the Logitech On-line Services:
WWW: http://www.logitech.com/
FTP: ftp://ftp.logitech.com/pub/TechSupport/IMAGING/
BBS: 510-795-0408 (up to 21.6 baud - N, 8, 1 - full duplex)
The required ScanWare v2.2 files are:
Installation Instructions (INSTALL.TXT)
Disk #1 (SW22_1.EXE)
Disk #2 (SW22_2.EXE)
Disk #3 (SW22_3.EXE)
COMPQFIX.EXE (Install after upgrading the ScanWare)
This software patch is designed to correct the error message "Insufficient Resources..." when attempting to
ACQUIRE only under the following conditions:
1 - You have one of the following Logitech boarded scanner models:
ScanMan, ScanMan Plus, ScanMan 32, ScanMan 256, ScanMan Color
If you have any other Logitech scanner model, this patch may cause problems.
2 - Your computer has more than 16 Mb of RAM on the system. If you have 16 Mb or less, this patch may cause
problems.
This error message has been directly connected to Compaq brand computer models, but a few cases have been
reported to occur on other computers.
This error message usually occurs in Windows 95, but may also occur in Windows 3.1x.
In order to correct the symptom described above, copy the files to the following directories:
VHHSCAND.386------> C:\WINDOWS
SCANMAN2.DS-------> C:\WINDOWS\TWAIN\SCANMAN
HHSCANW.DLL-------> C:\WINDOWS\TWAIN\SCANMAN
After copying the files, restart Windows in order for the new scanner modules to load properly.
Reported Issues with this release:
On some Compaq systems (i.e. DeskPro 590), when scanning in color at 300 dpi or greater, the scan might be
distorted. To correct this, simply set the scanner width to exactly 4.1 inches in the scanner user interface by moving
the ruler slider to 4.1". This may need to be done if the slider is reset back to a value greater than 4.1" next time the
scanner is accessed.
